Version: Yurbi v11
Role: Agent and higher
Permission: Must be the dashboard owner or
part of an assigned permission group with at least modify permissions
The Fast Cache field determines the frequency of dashboard refreshes. It is measured in minutes. Although it is set to 0 by default (indicating Fast Cache is turned off), we recommend assigning it a value of 1440. This translates to a daily dashboard update, as there are 1440 minutes in a day.
Please note that the lowest permitted value is 30, but you can adjust this minimum in the global setting files if needed. However, assigning a value to Fast Cache does not automatically enable it.
There are two conditions that must be satisfied:
1. Fast Cache must be activated in the user's User Permissions profile. Reach out to your administrative account holder to adjust your permissions.
2. The user needs to mark the dashboard as a favorite.
When these conditions are met, the dashboard will refresh and cache at the specified interval.
When Fast Cache is correctly configured, the dashboard will load quickly from memory when a user logs in. This avoids executing a live query against the database, offering a swift first data display. It is particularly beneficial for complex dashboards or situations where the dashboard is integrated into another application, as it reduces the number of queries made against the database.
Keep in mind that whenever a user changes a filter, or clicks to refresh or drill down, the dashboard will switch back to real-time mode.
Let us dive into the process:
Click on the pencil button that is on the far right side of the dashboard name to access the preference screen page.
To enable fast cache, update its field by changing zero (“0”) to any value
Click on the Next button
Click Save button on the next page to lock in the changes.
And there you have it! You now know how Fast Cache works and how you can enable it in your dashboards!
