Preparing for Your Yurbi Installation (Windows & Linux)

Before you get started with Yurbi, make sure you have everything you need for a smooth installation.

Quick Summary

  • Supported OS: Windows Server (2016 or higher) or Linux (most major distributions)
  • Hardware: Minimum 8GB RAM, 2 modern CPUs (3.0 Ghz clock speed or higher recommended)
  • Storage: Yurbi itself uses less than 1 GB, but you’ll need more space if using the embedded PostgreSQL or if a database server is on the same machine
  • Database: Choose between Microsoft SQL Server or the embedded PostgreSQL database
  • Browser: Chrome required on the server for scheduled email reports

System Requirements

Hardware

  • Memory: At least 8GB RAM
(More is better, especially for heavier workloads)
  • CPU: Minimum 2 modern CPUs (3.0 Ghz clock speed or higher recommended)
(Higher clock speed is better; for example, AWS c5d.xlarge or Azure F4s_v2 work well)
  • Storage:
    • Yurbi uses less than 1 GB itself
    • Plan for additional space if:
      • You’re using the embedded PostgreSQL database
      • You have a SQL database on the same server
      • You expect data growth over time
    • Minimum 1GB free disk space recommended
    • SSDs are not required but offer performance benefits

Operating System

  • Windows: Windows Server 2016 or newer (can also be trialed on Windows Desktop, but production use is recommended on servers)
  • Linux: Most major distributions supported

Other Requirements

  • Browser: Google Chrome must be installed on the server for scheduled dashboards and reports to be sent via email.

Database Options

Yurbi requires a backend database. You have two options:

  1. Microsoft SQL Server

    • Recommended if you already have SQL Server in your environment
    • Requires a user account with DATABASE CREATE permissions (using sa is easiest)
    • If you use only Windows Authentication for SQL, contact support for assistance
  2. Embedded PostgreSQL

    • Ideal if you don’t have SQL Server available
    • Installed on the same server by default
    • For high-volume production, consider moving PostgreSQL to a dedicated server (support can assist with migration)
    • Important: You cannot migrate Yurbi data between MS SQL and PostgreSQL later; choose the database you plan to use long-term

Files Needed

You’ll need two files to install Yurbi:

  1. Main installer
  2. Update file (latest patches and hotfixes)

These are provided via download links after registering for a trial or by request from support.

Additional Notes

  • Yurbi does not require a dedicated server for light use; it can share resources if your server meets the specs.
  • During installation, you can choose your install directory. The default is C:\Program Files\Yurbi on Windows and /var/yurbi on Linux.
  • If you have specific IT directory requirements, plan ahead or contact support for help.
